WHERE ARE YOU ON THE SCALE?

When I sit down with a coachee for the first time and they are not very clear about what they want to work on, I always ask a very simple question, regardless of their age: “On a scale of 1 to 10, (where 1 is terrible and 10 is fantastic), how do you rate yourself, overall?

It is a relatively easy question, although it does provoke reflection. (Something that we do not do enough of in this fast pace world…) Whatever the answer, let’s move on to the next question: Are you satisfied with this? And this is usually where the magic begins, because it´s where the conversation grows and obviously it is necessary to specify: “Which aspect of your life is dragging the number down? Work? Money? Family? Friends? Health? Mental wellbeing? Etc.? And so, it begins! An objective is mutually agreed and worked upon. So, on a scale of 1 to 10, where are you? One day or day one. You decide.
